Buying a Home: Look into Homes for Heroes!

We’ve featured content in the past about purchasing homes through the VA loan, housing credits available to veterans, and the value of a home as an investment. Today, we’ll highlight a program available to firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, and military (including veterans) that could land you a check upon closing on your home. Homes for heroes was started in 2009 and has helped over 61,000 Heroes through the giving of $115 million in Hero Rewards. The program has partnered with over 4,500 real estate and mortgage professionals and on average facilitates the saving of $3,000 when a Hero buys or sells a home.

How it works

Homes for Heroes has partnered with a number of organizations to bring you savings as you look to buy, sell, or refinance your home. The process is as simple as this:

  1. Click here to sign up for the program and be contacted by a real estate professional or mortgage professional in your area
  2. Discuss your options with the person that contacted you
  3. Buy, Sell, or Refinance your home
  4. Receive a “Heroes Reward” upon closing — typically averaging $3,000

The organization was founded by Ruth Johnson and family in 2002 and became a national brand in 2009. For reviews of the company, take a look here. We hope this helps as you look to purchase, sell, or refinance your next home!

  1. Can you do an article on medical benefit options for those who didn’t serve a full 20 years?
