Until the 1980s, asbestos was extensively used in every branch of the military, resulting in veterans at a heightened risk of developing mesothelioma cancer. Signs and symptoms of mesothelioma often manifest from 20 to 60 years after exposure and they include respiratory issues, persistent cough, and chest pain. The Mesothelioma Center provides free individualized support and information to veterans affected, connecting them with doctors, providing a support network, and helping them find the best mesothelioma treatment centers and resources. They also provide at-no-cost training, guidance, and assistance to VSOs so that they know exactly how to navigate these processes. As a veteran with mesothelioma, you may be eligible for 100% disability compensation through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
